After 21 years, Beatlefest is still going strong -- as are Beatles record sales. late 1969, the band name ``Johnny and the Moondogs'' appeared on the Fillmore East marquee as a front band for one of the name groups scheduled to appear. A delirious buzz went through the East Village. For those who knew the name, it was a secret message that just couldn't be ignored. Whether it was someone's idea of a joke or an actual event that was later canceled, the name was taken down a few days later, leaving a deep disappointment among many of those who knew ``Johnny and the Moondogs'' was one of the names used by the Beatles before they skyrocketed to fame. Many people then believed that the Beatles had sought to play the Fillmore before breaking up. Others claim the Beatles wanted to play live once again, but didn't want to draw attention to themselves by performing under their real name.
